International Seminar on "Fringes. The Landscapes of the Periphery"

The international seminar "Fringes. The Landscapes of Periphery", organised by Observatori del Paisatge in collaboration with RECEP-ENELC and Institut de Cultura de la Ciutat d'Olot, will be held at Casal Marià, Olot, 11 - 12 November 2010.

Presentation

Peripheries act as fringes, interfaces between different geographical realities and landscape configurations. They are not only the unforeseen and undesired result of a centre that is growing and needs to expand, with no regard to where or how. The periphery is more than just the perimeter of a centre; it is also, and above all, a threshold between different territorial (and sometimes mental) realities, with increasing prominence. Too often, peripheries are untidy, unfinished landscapes with negative connotations for the town of which they form part. As the European Landscape Convention states, this has repercussions on social well-being, since quality of life is directly linked to the quality of the landscape. To understand the logic and the idiosyncrasy of peripheries requires a great variety of gazes, from art to literature, from music to cinema, from photography to architecture, from geography to sociology, from town planning to ecology. To act in the periphery, we need a substantial change in the space and time scale to which we are accustomed, and we need to understand that its social and symbolic (and even landscape) yardsticks are different. The gaze towards the town from the periphery is unusual, but enormously suggestive, because it offers us guidelines for interpreting contemporaneity that are difficult to perceive from the centre. From the interdisciplinary perspective and the openness to new ideas that have characterised the activity of the Landscape Observatory of Catalonia since its beginnings, on this occasion we intend to place ourselves, in collaboration with the RECEP-ENELC and the Institut de Cultura de la Ciutat d'Olot, at the very heart of the periphery, and these hybrid fringes that act as thresholds will serve us to put forward new forms of intervention and management, new landscape yardsticks, and new alternative readings to the usual hegemonic ones.

RElut - Expozitie interactiva de ceramica remixata

"REcult aduce MESTESUGURILE in URBAN si ARTA in RURAL.

UN EVENIMENT RECOMANDAT PRIN VIU GRAI:

Pe parcursul a doua zile, RE cult isi propune sa transforme vecinatatea casei olarului de la Muzeul Satului Banatean intr-o galerie - promenada , compusa din materiale TRADITIONALE si NECONVENTIONALE, unde vor fi expuse si create variatiuni si contraste pe aceeasi tema : CERAMICA.

Vor fi prezenti : artisti ceramisti, restauratori, mesteri olari, dj si vj

Esti asteptat in primul week-end din octombrie, sub panze intinse si arbori la muzeul satului de la marginea orasului Timisoara.

Atelierele de ceramica sunt deschise publicului.

Intrarea este libera!

RE lut . eveniment organizat RE cult si finantat de Administratia Fondului Cultural National,in parteneriat cu: Muzeul Satului Banatean si Facultatea de Arte si Design UVT si Astronaut Kru.

Despre

Acesta este blogul oficial al proiectului “Let’s Do It, Romania!”, spaţiul în care încercăm să fim mai puţin formali, mai departe de un format rigid de comunicat de presă şi mai aproape de susţinătorii LDIR şi de tot ce înseamnă această campanie.

Doar pentru că te muţi cu 2 metri mai departe de o grămadă de gunoi când ieşi la picnic, asta nu înseamnă că mizeria nu mai e acolo. Doar pentru că alegi să te uiţi în altă parte, asta nu înseamnă că în apele râului care îţi alimentează oraşul cu apă potabilă nu plutesc zeci de mii de PET-uri şi pungi. Doar pentru că nu fotografiezi şi munţii de gunoaie când pleci în vacanţă, asta nu înseamnă că ei nu erau acolo.

Ce-ar fi să schimbăm foaia? Ce-ar fi să ne notăm în calendar o dată importantă pentru fiecare dintre noi: aceea în care sute de mii de români au spus ”Stop!” şi şi-au curăţat ţara de PET-uri, pungi şi hârtii lăsate de alţii, purtate de vânt şi apă în cele mai frumoase locuri din România? Nu ne permitem să ne cumpărăm o ţară mai curată, şi nici nu am avea cum, dar putem să o curăţăm noi! Într-o singură zi s-o curăţăm pe toată! Să ne mândrim din ziua următoare că avem o ţară curată, că am scris istorie, că am acţionat împreună măcar pentru o zi!

Copiii tăi te vor întreba dacă ai fost şi tu unul dintre voluntarii „Let’s Do It, Romania!”. O să-i spui că da, că ai fost şi tu unul dintre cei care au schimbat într-o singură zi felul în care arată o ţară, sau că era ceva interesant la TV şi ai stat acasă? Nu rata şansa de a-ţi schimba ţara!
